I can use a couple dozen or more stakes at least 2 ft. or longer. They don't need to be from a garden store. I use my yard as a suburban wildlife refuge and use many stakes for marking plant locations, supporting plant cages, etc…. Most of the my "stakes" are from reusable items like thin pieces of metal, plastic, wood, and straight branches that were trimmed from shrubs and trees.
