I can use a couple dozen or more stakes at least 2 ft. or longer. They don't need to be from a garden store. I use my yard as a suburban wildlife refuge and use many stakes for marking plant locations, supporting plant cages, etc
. Most of the my "stakes" are from reusable items like thin pieces of metal, plastic, wood, and straight branches that were trimmed from shrubs and trees.
