OK Everyone. Subject lines are important things for this group. They tell members if you are giving an item away (Offer), looking for an item (Wanted). If you gave an item away (Taken), if you received an item (Received), and if you gave a member who posted a Wanted for an item (Gifted)
Subject lines also tell members what items you are giving away, or requesting. They also tell members your zip code/location. This helps especially if you are giving away an item, so members know where you are before they request your item.
For every Offer, there should be a matching Taken and (hopefully) a Received.
For every Wanted, there should (hopefully) be a Received and (hopefully) a Gifted.
Subject line length is also controlled by Yahoo. Just because you can fit it on the line on your end, does not mean Yahoo will allow it. So please stick with the basic format (see below) Information about your item goes in the body, that is what it is there for.
Examples of Subject Lines:
OFFER: Couch (63122) - When you are giving something away.
TAKEN: Couch (63122) - When it has been taken.
WANTED: Couch (63122) - When you are asking for an item.
RECEIVED: Couch (63122) - When you have received an item.
GIFTED: Couch (63122) - When you have gifted an item in response to a wanted post.
Please notice that Members do not need to type in StLouis-Freecycle in front of their subject line. Yahoo does that for us. :)
We have over 14,000 members in this group. St Louis Freecycle is one of the largest groups in MO. Rules are needed to keep the group from turning in to and looking like a mini Craigslist. With that being said effective immediately ANY posting that does not contain the proper Subject Line format will be subject to deletion without comment.
