How did this strike not go in?

A footballer watches in disbelief as his shot hits the woodwork FOUR times before staying out of the goal and being cleared.

A Greek footballer has become an internet phenomenon after probably the most agonising miss ever seen in a football match.

Egeas Plomariou was taking part in a league match for the island of Lesvos against Papnikolis when he fired a shot in from the right of the box.

The effort beat the keeper easily, but hit the far post - then bounced up off the crossbar, onto the near post, and then rolled across the face of goal to hit the far post once more.

Remember that next time you're inclined to curse your team's luck when they put one in the side netting!
